Sports Trivia For Newbies

Trivia and fun fact games have begun to take the world by storm and are growing in popularity tremendously. Of the thousands of different types of trivia, one tends to be most popular. This trivia that I’m talking about is sports trivia.
Sports trivia is a general category in the sense that it includes trivia from all sports (even ones that you might not consider “real†sports). In a sports trivia game you’ll find questions about boxing, horse racing, badminton, football, soccer, etc.  You’ll even find trivia about crochet!
In this article, I’m going to give you some facts that fit into the category of “sports triviaâ€. If you’re looking for this type of knowledge, you’re reading the right article.
•    The Dallas Cowboys were the only team to win three Super Bowls in the 1990s. They won Super Bowl XXVII in 1993, Super Bowl XXVIII in 1994, and Super Bowl XXX in 1996.
•    The first pitcher to ever throw a 9-inning no-hit game and lose was Ken Johnson. His team at the time (Houston Colts) lost 1-0 after giving up two errors that allowed a run to score in the ninth inning.
•    Basketball was invented by Dr. James Naismith, a Canadian who lived in Massachusetts, in 1891. He wanted to develop a game that would keep children fit and that could be played indoors during the long Massachusetts winters.
•    A current NHL season has 82 games.
•    The record lowest score in 18 holes on the LPGA tour is 59. Annika Sorenstam hit this score at the 2001 Standard Register Ping played at the Moon Valley Country Club.
•    In NASCAR, the waving white flag means that there is only one lap left in the race.
•    The first ever 4-time winner of the Indianapolis 500 is A.J. Foyt. He won it in 1977, 1967, 1964, and 1961.
•    The Tour de France has been raced since the year 1903. However, an American did not win it until 1986 when Greg LeMond accomplished that feat. He then repeated in 1989 and 1990.
•    Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) is the newest North American Sports league and was established in 2009.
•    Delon Sanders was the first person to ever play in both a Super Bowl and a World Series. He played in Super Bowl XXIX (1994) and in the 1992 World series.
