The passion and devotion of these fans for the game and their teams are so much they can be regarded as cults in effect. A vast number of these emotional audiences contribute a lot to the drama and spectacle of the soccer game.

International competitions are organized and run by the Federation Internationale de Football Association or FIFA. Its membership has tremendously grown with the global acceptance of the soccer game. It could be noted that there are more members here than there are in the United Nations. This is the mania that drives people to soccer shops to grab their own soccer jersey and march to the stadiums to stand for their country representatives.

This type of merchandise almost always fetches a considerable amount of money since there are a lot of fans that collect soccer jerseys and they don't care about the price tags. The bidders wouldn't give in easily for want of getting the precious token and this raises the prices so high that the soccer clubs get significant revenues from them.

For these fans, the originals are priceless and they want them badly.

Some players donate their soccer jerseys for charity since they have an inkling of how much they could cost when auctioned off. The best thing about such items is that they are mostly personally autographed by the player.

For those who cannot afford the originals, there are replicas that are being sold at much lower prices. Fans should be warned though, about replicas being sold as originals, and therefore price-tagged much higher.

Every soccer team has its own uniform for identity and unity purposes. A high school team, club, college, or kids' league also change their jerseys seasonally like the professionals. These smaller teams also get the same fan acceptance within their locales and their supporters can also be seen donning their uniforms.

For a soccer team, it of course reflects their personality and identity. For the fans, to wear it is to support their teams. For the more patriotic lot, they wear soccer jerseys to root for their country in international games. Others wear them for their bright, radiant colors. These colors are easily identified amid the crowd, so from a distance, they can proclaim their admiration to their favorite players. Since there are a lot of soccer teams, some people collect their jerseys for fun too.
