Watch Out How You Celebrate Those Goals Boys and Girls!
Watch out how you celebrate your next soccer goal boys and girls as the celebration may not end up quite like you expect it to. Earlier this season in Major League Soccer play attacker Fabian Espindola of Real Salt Lake deflected a long shot into the net with a glancing header from a longball. He was rightfully pumped up and in his excitement, he immediately ran back to midfield, and in celebration of his goal, did a flying frontflip.
Unfortunately, he did not quite hit his landing as he had hoped. Fabian did land on his feet, but with a very surprised look on his face. He gingerly walked over to the sideline in front of the Real Salt Lake bench and sat down asking for medical attention. It seems in all his joy and celebration had broken his leg landing his front flip! Fabian Espindola had to be substituted by Real Salt Lake from the match and will be out for several weeks of time as he recovers from the flipping mishap.
The final irony of the story??? The linesman had his flag raised after the header and Espindola's goal was ruled offside and disallowed!!! All that an embarrassed Fabian Espindola could do was sit on the sidelines and sulk as the game resumed with a free kick.
So boys and girls, the moral of the story is to watch those goal celebrations! No front flips. No gymnastical combinations. Watch the craziness. They could be quite dangerous. and you could end up quite embarrassed afterwords to boot!
