The Washington Redskins have a new coach on board with Mike Shanahan. There's just a little bit of nostalgia for player Clinton Portis, who was drafted by Shanahan back in 2002 when Shanahan was the head coach for the Denver Broncos. Not so ironically, Shanahan traded Portis in 2004 for cornerback Champ Bailey. Now the two are back together again. Portis has been with the Redskins since his trade but only time will tell whether or not Shanahan plans to retain the 28-year old who is now quite the outspoken personality and has totaled up almost 10,000 career rushing yards.

It's been an up and down season for the Washington Redskins this year but there's no question that these team has given more than a few other teams a great run for the money. Back in the preseason zone, the Steelers got taken down and took home a loss to the Washington Redskins by 4 points. Into the regular 2009 season, the Rams couldn't get a win either, losing to the Washington Redskins by 2 points. From the outside looking in, the number of wins are overshadowed by the losses for the Washington Redskins this season but no team wins every game every time, right? Definitely not and the losses they experienced this season attest to it.

Fans, players, staff and onlookers alike are curious to see how the team will fair with Shanahan on hand to help coach the team. In the last game against the San Diego Chargers, for the days leading up to the game, there were a few players out, questionable and probable including LaRon Landry, Devin Thomas, Albert Haynesworth, Rocky McIntosh and Santana Moss. Washington Redskins fans can look forward to seeing linebacker/defensive end Brian Orakpo in the Pro Bowl 2010. Orakpo represents the first Washington Redskins rookie to get in the Pro Bowl since the merger in 1970.
