Blackberry Pearl 8100 White: Elegant But Pocket Friendly

 

Connectivity is not the sole utility that the mobile phones offer. Rather, they are the profound style signatures. Now, with the increased competition in the connectivity market, the value added services like camera music and games have become the important factors to create niche. All major mobile phone providers are now on constant research and development process to make these aspects more user friendly. And Blackberry Phones known for its innovative ideas is not a rebel child.

Recently, RIM along with T-Mobile officially introduced the latest innovative blackberry set to the world which is the first BlackBerry to offer a built-in camera, video and music playback, and expandable media. You may think that in today's scenario, this connectivity gadget isn't offering anything revolutionary; most smart phones today have the same capabilities and offer more functionality, such as video recording, sharing etc. But, this model's sleek form factor and new features, coupled with the Blackberry's heralded e-mail capabilities, will be definitely a prized possession for business users and consumers alike. This handset is a nice intermediate of the youth-friendly T-Mobile Sidekick 3 and the more corporate-oriented RIM BlackBerry 8700g. Available in elegant white, this model is all about style, performance and uninterrupted connectivity.

The BlackBerry Pearl 8100 White rocks a 2.25-inch TFT screen and can display 65,000 colours at a 240x260-pixel resolution. Like the company's other connectivity devices, it's not a touch screen, but it offers a sharp, clear display with vibrating colour combinations and is great for surfing, viewing e-mail, images, and Web sites. It also inherits facilities like light-sensing technology, so it will automatically adjust the screen and keyboard depending on your changing environment. It adjusts the display's light so that the user can still read it in direct sunlight. You have the option to change the screen's theme; back light time, font size, style, and family. A small LED above the screen illuminates different colours for different status messages like green for wireless, blue for Bluetooth, red for new messages, and amber for low battery situations. There's also a mute button on top of the device for the convenience of the user.

The BlackBerry Pearl 8100 White supports a 1.3-mega pixel camera with a flash and 5X zoom. It should be noted that this model doesn't have video recording capabilities like most camera-equipped smart phones and cell phones. You also don't get as many of the customising options, but you have the option to choose from three picture sizes (1,280x1,024, 640x480, and 320x240) and three quality settings (normal, fine, and superfine). You can easily adjust the white balance setting depending on your environment. When the photos are taken, you can save them to your device's internal memory or to the media card, or set them as caller ID or as your home screen. In this mobile phone, you have several options for sharing your images with family and friends through e-mail, a multimedia message, or an instant message. The slide-show feature is available, but there was an annoying "Loading..." message in between every picture.

For music lovers, the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 White supports MP3, AAC, MIDI, and WAV files, among others. You can create your own play lists as folders and shuffle and repeat songs within a the same folder. This mobile phone also displays some track information, such as title, artist, and album art if available already. when you try the music player of this handset, you quickly find that external player controls would have been nice. You can also continue to play music as you use the device's other applications without any hassles. And when there is an incoming call, the the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 White will pause the music and pick up where you left off after you hang up.
